Hello guys!
Not sure, where to put this, but this sounds like a good place. The fight i'm going to talk about is not a piracy one, but during a corp war. Nevertheless, i want to encourage all new players like myself to never give up in a fight!
This morning, about 20 minutes before i had to leave for work, i decided to play for a couple minutes and kill some belt rats in empire, to raise my wallet. As i'm just a couple month old, way below 3 mio skill points, most of them (1.8 MIO) in learning skills and navigation (600K), i have not many other opportunities to earn isk. So i undocked from station. As we are at war, there surely was the danger of running into some hostiles, even more, as their home system was within the next 4 jumps or so... Still wondering (and neglecting my overview) where to go hunting, as there are no belt rats in 0.9 at all, i reckoned, that somebody was targetting me... Somebody, with a red tag and shiny white star... Well, trying to look, what was going to shoot me, i saw a Taranis approaching myself. As i'm just a newbie, and i was sitting in my Merlin, i prayed my last prayer (at least i thought...), closed my eyes, and started waiting for the things to come... Then i realised, that that guys was pretty damn close to myself, within range of my rockets and blasters, and i decided to go down in flames instead of shames. I opened fire, activated (we are at war...) my scrambler and see, i hit this guy... i saw his shields go down pretty fast, whilst mine are still up at 70%... Soon after that , he ran out of armor, turned around and headed away, out of scramble range (and blaster, rocket range...) and warped off, already into structure.... I really couldn't believe it. As you can imagine, i enjoyed pretty much to win against a player with almost two year game experience and some corps in his history, that also made me feel like he has some PvP experience as well (Everlasting Vendetta was one of his former corps. Not sure, if this is really a PvP corp, but Vendetta made me believing this...)
Well, we had a nice chat afterwards and we agreed on meeting again, once we are both in interceptors. For that time, i promised myself, that i will also have the skills to run a webber, which i couldn't fit right now, cause not enough power. Told you in the beginning, i'm new to PvP and low on those kind of skills....
Anyway, there are two messages: 1. You can start on PvP with any character. There is no need for millions and millions of combat skill points, as long as you have the spirits!
2. Never give up. Stand your grounds, do your best, you never know how good and how experienced the recieving end is and strong counterstrike might safe your butt.
And if not, you at least stood your ground...
Cheers, Sugar Eye
